Frequently Asked Questions
When do sessions typically take place?
Our prime time to shoot is during "Golden Hour". This is simply the time of day shortly after sunrise and before sunset which is the time of the day when the light is redder and softer. It makes for gorgeous photos. For this reason, we will shoot early in the morning or late in the afternoon/early evening. Of course depending on the time of year, the exact time will vary but in general we look at starting between 7-9am or 4:30-6pm.
Is there a travel fee?
We are located in Monument, Colorado and shoot in a 30 mile radius from "home". This takes us to all of Colorado Springs, CastleRock, Parker, Larkspur and parts of southeast Highlands Ranch, Colorado. We are THRILLED to go beyond this radius and will charge .65/mile for any miles after the first 30. We often will travel to visit friends and family around the country and we will advertise when that happens as there will be no added travel fee for those shoots!
Do you provide a list of location suggestions
YES, absolutely! We have areas we love to shoot at and will send you those suggestions with examples of work we've done there. We are always looking for new areas and are open to any suggestions and area/places YOU want to shoot at! We love "out of the box" locations-ones we've never been too, are your favorites or ones that are unique!
When will my photos be ready?
Typically we tell our clients 2-3 weeks and depending on the time of year it could be one week OR 3 1/2 weeks. We will stay in touch to let you know how things are going so you know approximately your individual timeline. Weddings will be 6-8 weeks. In all cases, we send you a few "sneak peeks" within the first 48 hours after your shoot.
How should we expect to receive our images?
Your images will be sent to you via email where you will find a link to YOUR gallery. From there, you will be able to download high-resolution images directly on to your computer and/or phone and print/share as you wish!
What happens if the weather is bad or I need to reschedule?
Living in Colorado, we all know this is always a possibility! As your shoot approaches, we will both be monitoring the weather. If things are looking bad-too rainy, too cold, too snowy, too windy-whatever the case may be, we will reschedule at the earliest time that works for both of us-at no further charge to you. We bend over backwards to make shoots happen, BUT we also will bend over backwards to reschedule when crazy Colorado weather makes it necessary!
If you need to reschedule for another reason (life happens!), reach out to us as soon as possible and we will find a new date and time that will work for us both-your deposit is nonrefundable, but will roll over to your new date!
What should I bring to a shoot?
If you have multiple outfit changes, try and bring those changes pressed and on hangers or in garment bags. Lots of accessories are always a great idea....shoes, hats, jewelry, scarves (hat and mittens if winter shoot), glasses/sunglasses, sweaters/coats/jackets, flowers-anything that brings YOUR personality to your shoot! If doing a hobby shoot-bring everything-Basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, pets, siblings/friends, swim goggles, college sweatshirts/pennants, rollerskates, motorcycles/bikes--you get the picture! Whatever is important to you and makes YOU you--BRING IT!
It's also a good idea to bring some water, chapstick, make up bag and brush/comb.
What if I am nervous in front of the camera?
No worries! Most of us are! We will take time at the beginning of our shoot to get to know you-what you are comfortable with and what is making you nervous. We will listen to you. We will give you options. We are always open to your ideas but have plenty of ours as well--we love to work WITH our clients as we like every shoot to be unique and different-collaborating with you to discover new shots is one of our most favorite things to do! We will help with what you can do in front of the camera that will show who you are without looking uncomfortable or "over posed". We work to have FUN and to build your confidence. Everyone can shine through our lens and that is our goal--that when you leave our shoot you feel good about what just happened and more confident than when you walked in.
